Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease and the most common form of dementia. The first symptoms of Alzheimer’s are memory loss, disorientation and problems with language.
The good news is that there are many new diagnostic and treatment options today which can slow down the progress of the disease.

The clinics listed below are specialized in the treatment of Alzheimer’s. Besides drug treatment, they also offer non-drug measures which provide mental and physical stimulation. For this purpose, different specialists such as psychiatrists, geriatricians and neurologists work together in order to offer a comprehensive and individual therapy to each patient.

This is how the clinic list was created

  • Focus Award! Every year, the big German weekly magazine Focus honors the best specialist hospitals for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. All the hospitals listed above have been honored in the field of geriatric medicine and thus meet the highest quality standards.
  • Many patients! At the nine clinics presented above, the doctors have great experience with the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease because only hospitals with at least average treatment cases have been taken into consideration. Hospitals are obliged to inform about their medical treatment in quality reports and to provide this information to the Federal Joint Committee.
  • Multilingual! All the clinics mentioned above are prepared for patients from abroad. They either have a contact person for patients with a migrant background or an International Office.

This is just a small selection of German clinics. Of course, many other hospitals also offer a high quality of treatment.
