Back pain – almost everyone knows it. Sometimes you feel a pinch in your side, other times parts of the back stiffen. Often, this pain vanishes within a few days, but sometimes, for example in the case of paralyses or fractures of vertebral bodies, surgery is necessary. In order to facilitate the choice of the suitable clinic for you, here is a list of excellent German hospitals for spinal surgery.

Two Methods for Spinal Surgery

In Germany, there are two different ways of performing spine surgery. In keyhole surgery, a fine tube with a small diameter, the so-called endoscope, is introduced into the back through small incisions. Thereby, the surgical wounds remain very small.
In a classical surgery, the part of the back that is operated is opened with a longitudinal section. The surgeon has more space and a better overview in comparison to the endoscopic intervention.

No matter which method the patients choose, the treating doctors always discusses the surgery in detail with the patient. Patients from abroad send their medical findings in English or German to the patient manager of the clinic, so that the doctors can evaluate the pros and cons of an operation. The doctors do not give the go-ahead until they made sure that the intervention makes sense. Then, the patient can set off to Germany.
