In Germany, approximately 300,000 people suffer from the chronic fatigue syndrome. According to Fukunda et al., it can be defined as a state of exhaustion which lasts longer than six months, doesn’t improve through rest and significantly restricts the quality of life.
Its cause is unknown at this stage. Sometimes, the disease occurs when the immune system is weakened or through contact with certain pathogens. Patients suffering from this disease often look for a suitable specialist for a long time. The chronic fatigue syndrome is a recognized disease and has its own disease number (ICD 10 G93.3).
